Union Grove has gone 8-2 against Elkhorn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Broncos will look to defend their home field against the Elks at 4:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Union Grove is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Beloit Memorial on Friday. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Purple Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Evan Northup looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Matthew Gruber, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tucker Katterhagen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Union Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They never let the Demons get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Elks, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Elkhorn pushed their record up to 11-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Union Grove, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
Everything went Union Grove's way against Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Union Grove made off with a 9-2 win. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Elks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
