Delta proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by nine) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over Yorktown. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Tigers since May 26, 2023.
Kaeb Stebbins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Delta's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Everrett Linn, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave Linn a new career-high.
Meanwhile, Muncie Central can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They walked away with a 7-4 victory over Marion.
Logan Campbell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over 6.2 innings pitched. Campbell was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Muncie Central is 2-1 when Campbell posts two or more runs, but 0-9 otherwise.
Delta's record is now 7-4. As for Muncie Central, their win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 2-10.
Muncie Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Delta has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Muncie Central, though, as they've been averaging only 4.2 strikeouts. Will Delta keep running through batters, or will the Bearcats buck the trend?
Delta took their victory against Muncie Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
