After a string of four wins, the Clermont Northeastern Rockets's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of Blanchester by a score of 56-53. Clermont Northeastern was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
Clermont Northeastern's loss came despite strong showings from Connor Yeager and Xaden Hunt. Yeager dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds, while Hunt scored 21 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hunt has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Carlier, who scored seven points.
Clermont Northeastern's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-6. As for Blanchester, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-10.
Clermont Northeastern won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. Whiteoak is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Blanchester, they will head out on the road to square off against the Astros at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Clinton has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
