The Chandler Prep Titans will venture away from home to challenge the Lincoln Prep Lightning at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Chandler Prep's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Lincoln Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Chandler Prep took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Gilbert Classical Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Titans narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Spartans 6-4.
Colman Smith was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Swanson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
San Tan Charter hit Lincoln Prep with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lightning took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Roadrunners. The Lightning have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Jackson Platt was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Chandler Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Lincoln Prep, they now have a losing record of 9-10-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Chandler Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lincoln Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Chandler Prep skirted past Lincoln Prep 9-7 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Titans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
