While losing is never fun, Calumet Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while La Lumiere Blue is ranked 122nd).
When it comes to explaining why Calumet Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brad Nymeyer. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. Nymeyer has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Michael Rivera, who scored five points along with three steals.
Calumet Christian has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season. As for La Lumiere Blue, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calumet Christian will challenge 21st Century Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for La Lumiere Blue, they will head out on the road to face off against New Trier at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
