Peotone can finally bid farewell to their nine-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Hoopeston Cornjerkers 44-42. The Blue Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Peotone found their leader in sophomore Olivia Moe, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moe has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Schnelle, who posted six points.

Peotone was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

When it comes to explaining why Hoopeston lost, don't look at Addyson Kelnhofer. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Claire Dixon, who put up 12 points and three steals.

Peotone's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Hoopeston, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.

Peotone didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-39 loss against Herscher on the 14th. As for Hoopeston, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 47-40 win against Iroquois West on the 16th.
