The Spring Valley Timberwolves will challenge the Capital Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spring Valley has four straight wins, Capital has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Spring Valley got the win against South Charleston by a conclusive 14-4. The result was nothing new for the Timberwolves, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cole Adkins looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brody Spencer, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Cole Ferguson was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Spring Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Charleston only posted a batting average of .222.
Capital had taken Parkersburg down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Cougars came up short against the Big Reds, falling 15-2.
Spring Valley's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Everything went Spring Valley's way against Capital in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Spring Valley made off with a 17-1 victory. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
