The Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Cary Academy Chargers at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Wake Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
While Wake Christian Academy's win against St. David's wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Warriors on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.
Avery McArthur was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base.
In other pitching news, Wake Christian Academy got a great performance from Gavin Pacileo as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Pacileo has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Cary Academy's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ravenscroft on Thursday. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Ravens: they've now lost five in a row.
Cary Academy now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Wake Christian Academy, their record is now 11-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Wake Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Cary Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Wake Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Cary Academy in their previous matchup back in March, winning 5-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
