The Syracuse Titans fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Copper Hills Grizzlies on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 75-70 defeat to they. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (57), they still had to take the loss.
Syracuse's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Hudson Hess, who scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Joshua Godfrey, who scored 15 points.
Syracuse's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-5. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Copper Hills, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Syracuse will take on Ridgeline at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Ridgeline is ranked 22nd, while Syracuse is ranked 38th). As for Copper Hills, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bingham at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Bingham knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 12 matches -- so hopefully Copper Hills likes a good challenge.
