Volleyball Recap: Madera's Losing Streak Snapped at Eight Games

Madera came into Thursday's contest having lost eight straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Sanger West Hornets on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Coyotes have posted since March 29th.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (106-90) Madera actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 8-25, 14-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Despite the loss, Sanger West still got an impressive performance from Jayden Vang, who had 24 assists and four digs. Vang has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 11 times he's played.

Madera's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 19-23. As for Sanger West, they dropped their record down to 23-14 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Madera wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Edison on the 6th. As for Sanger West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Madera South on the 6th.
