Softball Recap: California City Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for California City, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past the Bishop Union Broncos 21-2 on Tuesday. The Ravens might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by eight runs or more this season.

Nevaeh Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Natasha Aguirre, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Makayla Haggins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

California City's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-7. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Union, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-5.
