Basketball Recap: Anabella Nieves' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wiregrass Ranch over Wesley Chapel

Wiregrass Ranch lost against Wesley Chapel back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Wiregrass Ranch Bulls came up short against the Wesley Chapel Wildcats, falling 54-29. The matchup marked the Bulls' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Wiregrass Ranch lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Anabella Nieves, who posted 11 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Nieves a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tennae Cabral, who put up six points along with six blocks and five boards.

It was another big night for Dayla Christopher, who had 22 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals for Wesley Chapel. With that strong performance, Christopher is now averaging an impressive 2.4 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Eliana Diaz, who posted six points in addition to eight boards and six steals.

Wiregrass Ranch's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Wesley Chapel, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Wiregrass Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 48-21 win against Tampa Prep on the 12th. As for Wesley Chapel, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-47 defeat against River Ridge on the 12th.
