Basketball Recap: Thornwell Falls Despite Big Games from Aly Jeter and Kynli English

Thornwell lost against Ware Shoals back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Thornwell Saints received a blow as they fell 44-29 to the Ware Shoals Hornets. The Saints have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Thornwell had strong showings from Kynli English, who dropped a double-double on 11 rebounds and 11 blocks, and Aly Jeter, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and three steals. With that strong performance, English is now averaging an impressive 3.6 blocks per game.

Ware Shoals found their leader in sophomore Stella Eichhorn, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 19 boards. Eichhorn is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooke Crockett, who posted seven points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Thornwell's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Ware Shoals, their victory bumped their record up to 4-5.

Thornwell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-18 defeat against McCormick on the 9th. As for Ware Shoals, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-19 loss against Laurens Academy on the 4th.
