The Ruston Bearcats will square off against the Simsboro Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Ruston is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Monday. They walked away with a 16-11 victory over Haughton.
Ruston let Aubrey Stoehr and Morgan Foster run wild. Stoehr went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI, while Foster went 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Gracelyn Underwood, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Simsboro put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Carroll a 15-0 shutout. Fans of the Tigers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
Kailee Hamilton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hamilton was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
In other batting news, Carlei Wheeler was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most triples she has posted since back in March of 2024. Jacoya Lewis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Simsboro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .778. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Ruston came out on top in a nail-biter against Simsboro in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will Ruston repeat their success, or does Simsboro have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
