Madison Ridgeland Academy extended the longest winning streak in MAIS AAA I District 1 this week by beating Simpson Academy, 20-7. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Jackson Academy suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after besting Washington. The Raiders had been ranked 25th, but fell to 28.
Madison Ridgeland Academy's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Matt Porter threw for 53 yards and Will Trammell had 39 yards receiving. On the ground Zack Everhart chipped in 122 yards. Hunter Gillon helped Madison Ridgeland Academy's passing attack out by catching one ball for 35 yards.
Forrest Williams' team's Caleb Shufelt and Trammell have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Shufelt has thrown for 1115 yards this season, while Trammell has 40 catches for 774 yards. Nick Guy from Jackson Academy leads the league in rushing with 1001 yards.
