Marian Catholic will venture away from home to face off against the Nativity BVM Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Marian Catholic has five straight wins, Nativity BVM has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Marian Catholic made easy work of Mahanoy Area and carried off a 14-6 victory. The result was nothing new for Marian Catholic, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Emily Upanavage made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Upanavage was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Marian Catholic let Malina Letcher and Hailey Treskolasky run wild. Letcher went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Treskolasky went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was DeAnna Pugh, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and one double.
Marian Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Nativity BVM came up short against Our Lady of Lourdes Regional on Monday and fell 13-10. Even if the Green Wave couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Anna Jansson stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Marian Catholic's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.3 runs over those games. As for Nativity BVM, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.
Nativity BVM's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marian Catholic has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.4 hits per game. It's a different story for Nativity BVM, though, as they've been averaging 11.1 hits. Given Marian Catholic's sizable advantage in that area, Nativity BVM will need to find a way to close that gap.
Marian Catholic took their victory against Nativity BVM in their previous matchup last Monday by a conclusive 19-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marian Catholic since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
