The Pikesville Panthers will head out on the road to face off against New Town at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pikesville is looking to tack on another W to their 16-game streak on the road dating back to last season.
Pikesville proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 54) but on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Flowers 50-47.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pikesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Darielle Weems, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Mariah Jones-Bey was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with five assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, New Town waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 48-38 victory over Perry Hall.
Pikesville is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for New Town, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.
Pikesville beat the 51-44 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pikesville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
