Baseball Recap: Friday's Win Is Clint's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clint ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. Everything went their way against the San Elizario Eagles as they made off with a 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Joe Aranda and Daniel Ochoa made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Aranda tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Ochoa pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Clint is 5-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 7-8-1 otherwise. At the plate, Aranda scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances, while Ochoa scored three runs and stole five bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave Ochoa a new career-high.

In other batting news, Oscar Maldonado was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Abraham Medina was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Clint hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Clint is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for San Elizario, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
