The Bruce Trojans lost against the Calhoun City Wildcats back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Bruce was beaten by Calhoun City 54-18. Bruce was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-9.
Laken Corbitt was Bruce's leading scorer, having posted six points.
A'toria Knox held things down on the boards with six rebounds.
Bruce bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.5 points per game. As for Calhoun City, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bruce will take on South Pontotoc at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Pontotoc presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Bruce in Mississippi (South Pontotoc is ranked 47th, while Bruce is ranked 192nd). As for Calhoun City, they will be playing at home against Shannon at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Shannon is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
