The Issaquah Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Issaquah's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Lake Washington's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Issaquah was handed a six-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past Eastlake 5-3.
Tyler Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Issaquah is 4-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Issaquah saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Seika Saito, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Those two runs gave Saito a new career-high. Charlie Lydum was another, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Issaquah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .406. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastlake only posted a batting average of .280.
Meanwhile, Lake Washington hadn't done well against Eastlake recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Kangaroos came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 10-5. Lake Washington's victory was all the more impressive since the Wolves were averaging only 2.79 runs allowed on the season.
Aidan Mehlberg was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kane Nishikawa, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Issaquah has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Lake Washington, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5.
Issaquah came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Washington when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
