The Westside Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by ED White on the road and fell 80-53. Westside was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as ED White apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February.
When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jaylen Mitchell. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds. Mitchell scored a full 39.6% of Westside's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
ED White's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamal Scott, who scored 20 points along with three steals. The matchup was Scott's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ty Vincent, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Westside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for ED White, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Westside and Zarephath Academy will round out the year against one another at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. ED White will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lake Gibson on January 5, 2024.
