The Crespi Celts''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The matchup between Crespi and St. Francis wasn't particularly close, with Crespi falling 42-27. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Crespi in their matchups with St. Francis: they've now lost four in a row.
Crespi's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Pendleton, who picked up 97 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Masyn Harvey, who threw for 180 yards and three touchdowns.
John Sanders continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Francis, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Sanders is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of John Calmette, who rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns.
Crespi's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for St. Francis, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Crespi will play host again and welcome Paraclete, where Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Paraclete presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Crespi in California (Paraclete is ranked 109th, while Crespi is ranked 389th). As for St. Francis, they will head out on the road to face off against St. Paul at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
