Discovery hasn't had much luck against Mill Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Titans are taking a road trip to face off against the Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Discovery has given up an average of 41.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Last Friday, Discovery ended up a good deal behind Mountain View and lost 34-20.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Daniel Mpelempele, who picked up 75 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Newson, who threw for 183 yards and three TDs.
Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Kendall Sword for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Discovery; they were averaging 4.9yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three contests they've fallen to only 3.6 per game.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mill Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Collins Hill with a 20-14 victory. The win was nothing new for the Hawks as they're now sitting on four straight.
Discovery better keep an eye on Jayde Beasley. He was instrumental in Mill Creek's win, rushing for 157 yards and one score while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Mill Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carson Hurter and Braxton Rembert.
Discovery's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Mill Creek, their record now sits at 6-2.
Discovery took a serious blow against Mill Creek when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 51-0. Thankfully for the Titans, Shane Throgmartin (who threw for 156 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes, and also punched in one rushing score) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
