Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cedarville). They never let the Catholic Central Irish get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Friday. Xavier Pauling made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Pauling was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Cedarville is undefeated when Pauling posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise.
In other batting news, Zach Creeden was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Jacob Lide was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Cedarville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catholic Central only posted a batting average of .100.
Cedarville's record now sits at 10-6. As for Catholic Central, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.
