The Bad Axe Hatchets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They walked away with a 55-45 win over Vassar. That's another feather in the cap for Bad Axe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Vulcans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Long, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Long also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
The victory got Bad Axe back to even at 5-5. As for Vassar, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bad Axe will take on Unionville-Sebewaing at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Unionville-Sebewaing is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Vassar, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Laker at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
