Sierra Vista and Bonanza are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Mountain Lions are taking a road trip to face off against the Bengals at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Sierra Vista will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Sierra Vista is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Liberty, who was ranked fourth at the time (Sierra Vista was ranked 19th). The Mountain Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Patriots on Thursday. With that victory, the Mountain Lions brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Michael Alvarado, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Sierra Vista is undefeated when Alvarado posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Austin Webb, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Bonanza lost 14-6 to Sierra Vista on Tuesday. The Bengals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Bonanza saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Darren McGee, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Landan Rehmel-Quinones, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Sierra Vista pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of four runs across that stretch. As for Bonanza, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
Sierra Vista's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. The Mountain Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Bonanza, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Sierra Vista continue to outrun the ball?
Sierra Vista took their victory against Bonanza when the teams last played on Tuesday by a conclusive 14-6 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
