On Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Corinth had to settle for a 56-54 defeat against the Commodores.
Corinth's loss came despite strong showings from Xae Mayes and Braedyn Burress. Mayes scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five steals, while Burress dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Cayden Harris, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Corinth has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season. As for Lafayette, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-13.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Corinth won't have much time to rest: their next match is against the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. New Hope is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road. As for Lafayette, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Corinth has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
