The Richland Raiders will be home for the holidays to greet the Wayne County Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Richland knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Wayne County likes a good challenge.
Last Saturday, Richland strolled past Zion Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 61-47. Given Richland's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Zion Christian Academy is ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Wayne County unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 49-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Hickman County.
Despite the defeat, Wayne County saw an underclassman step up: Cayman Camfield scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. The game was Camfield's third in a row with at least ten points. Sayler Skelton was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Wayne County were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Richland's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Wayne County, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-2.
