Piedmont has gone a perfect 4-0 against Central Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Piedmont Panthers face off against Central Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Piedmont is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Piedmont's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Forest Hills 15-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.
Ashlyn Pressley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylyn Steele was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Reagan Loving, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.
Piedmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Forest Hills only posted an OBP of .000.
Meanwhile, Central Academy came up short against Sun Valley on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Central Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Crawford, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.
Central Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Piedmont, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
Thursday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Piedmont hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. However, it's not like Central Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Piedmont's way against Central Academy when the teams last played back in March, as Piedmont made off with a 17-1 win. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
