Hackleburg extended the longest winning streak in 1A Region 8 this week by beating Tharptown, 49-20. The victory was the eighth in a row for the Panthers.
Shoals Christian made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,287 from 10,771. The advance stemmed from a 56-32 victory over Phillips last week.
The Bears' dynamic duo of Rodney Camp and Austin Mitchell proved tough for the Flame to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Camp threw for 382 yards and two touchdowns and Mitchell had 143 yards receiving. Jonathan Long helped Phillips' passing attack out by catching nine balls for 106 yards.
Kristian Jones was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 146 yards on 14 carries as Hackleburg lost to Shoals Christian. Teammate Seth Moore added to the ground attack by rushing for 59 yards.
Gary Mccarley's team's Camp and Tyler Crumpton have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Camp has thrown for 2438 yards this season, while Crumpton, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 56 catches for 1121 yards. Jones from ROD HUDSON's team leads the league in rushing with 1073 yards.
Patrick Odom's team led 1A Region 8 in scoring this week after putting up 56 points on the Bears.
