Durham hasn't had much luck against Chico recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Durham has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Durham is headed into the game having just suffered their closest defeat since March 20, 2025 on Friday. They fell just short of Colusa by a score of 8-6.

Sadie Sjolund put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and four unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Durham got a big performance out of Clare Osbon, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run. Ashley Spence also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, Chico earned a 6-1 victory over Lassen on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won four in a row.
Like Durham, Chico also got a great game from a two-way player: McKena Harvey. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave Harvey a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Leah Cawthon, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Maddie Nadeau was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Durham's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Chico, their record is now 5-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Durham has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Durham suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Chico in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
