The Midwood Hornets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Sunday after their eighth straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 54-27 loss at the hands of Summit Academy. While losing is never fun, Midwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while Summit Academy is ranked 94th).
Summit Academy found their leader in underclassman Amerie Santana, who scored 21 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariyha Boston, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Midwood's loss dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Summit Academy, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 17-3.
Midwood will look to defend their home court on Saturday against East New York Family Academy at 11:00 a.m. East New York Family Academy is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Summit Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Morel Campos at 4:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Morel Campos comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
