Bristol is 2-8 against Mathews since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Panthers will be playing at home against the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Bristol took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 30-12 margin over Lordstown. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Mycie Workman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Workman was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of her plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that she snagged this season.

In other batting news, Bristol got a massive performance out of Alexa Atchison, who scored five runs and stole seven bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those five runs gave Atchison a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cadence Imhoff, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
Bristol was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .727. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .314 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, while Mathews put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Grand Valley. Mathews put the hurt on Grand Valley with a sharp 9-0 victory. Winning may never get old, but Mathews sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Mathews pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Bristol, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
