The Stivers School for the Arts Tigers are on the road again on Wednesday and play against the Columbus Academy Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on December 27th. Stivers School for the Arts will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 621st, while Columbus Academy is ranked 103rd).
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Stivers School for the Arts, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 63-44 loss to Hilliard Bradley. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Stivers School for the Arts has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Amaury Hawes, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Wright, who scored ten points.
Columbus Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 24 points or more this season. They breezed by Fredericktown on the road to the tune of 64-30. Columbus Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Stivers School for the Arts bumped their record down to 1-5 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Columbus Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.
Stivers School for the Arts came up short against Columbus Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 56-48. Can Stivers School for the Arts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
