St. Anthony has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the St. John the Baptist Cougars at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully St. Anthony's focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Sunday.
On Sunday, St. Anthony's ended up a good deal behind the Gaels and lost 63-45. While losing is never fun, St. Anthony's can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 137th, while the Gaels are ranked 19th).
Despite their defeat, St. Anthony's saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Nicolas Vieux, who scored seven points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Xavier Bala, who scored five points along with two steals.
Even though St. John the Baptist has not done well against the Friars recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way two weeks ago. St. John the Baptist came out on top against the Friars by a score of 49-38.
St. Anthony's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for St. John the Baptist, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
St. Anthony's came up short against the Cougars when the teams last played two weeks ago, falling 49-38. Can St. Anthony's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
