Emillia Andrews was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games she's played. Jenna Oman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Rochester came out on top against Caston on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Zebras' pitchers stepped up to hand the Comets a 5-0 shutout. Winning may never get old, but the Zebras sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Emma Mathias made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Mathias was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, Rochester let Aubrey Wilson and Aubrey Miller run wild. Wilson went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Miller got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Medina, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Rochester's record is now 20-3. As for Eastern, the victory got them back to even at 13-13.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Eastern has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Rochester struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Eastern suffered a grim 13-4 defeat to Rochester in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Comets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
