College Park is 6-0 against Willis since January of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The College Park Cavaliers will be home for the holidays to greet the Willis Wildkats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Tuesday, College Park took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 44-16 win over Caney Creek. Given College Park's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 472nd, while Caney Creek is ranked 1247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Willis can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cleveland 79-45 at home. Willis' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Willis' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amy Roberts, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Roberts scored 15 or more points. Kaleigh Kibbey was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and five steals.
College Park is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. As for Willis, their win bumped their record up to 2-14.
Everything went College Park's way against Willis when the teams last played back in January as College Park made off with a 56-34 victory. Does College Park have another victory up their sleeve, or will Willis turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
