Great Crossing on the road again on Sunday and play against the Princeton Vikings at 4:30 p.m. on January 14th. One thing working in Great Crossing's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven matchups.
Last Friday, Great Crossing didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Madison Central, but they still walked away with a 57-51 win. Given Great Crossing's advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while Madison Central is ranked 142nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Great Crossing's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jeremiah Godfrey led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Malachi Moreno, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 21-21 at halftime, Princeton was not quite Fairfield's equal in the second half on Friday. Princeton took a 48-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fairfield. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Princeton has scored all season.
Great Crossing's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-1. As for Princeton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-6.
