The Springbrook Blue Devils will finish 2023 at home by hosting the La Plata Warriors at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Springbrook's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
Springbrook pushed their score all the way to 59 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Sherwood 65-59. While losing is never fun, Springbrook can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 174th, while Sherwood is ranked 22nd).
Meanwhile, everything went La Plata's way against Friendly on Friday as La Plata made off with a 49-29 win. That 49-29 margin sets a new team best for La Plata this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead La Plata to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cameron Harrold, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Roland Barnes, who scored six points along with four steals.
Springbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for La Plata, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
