Eudora (Kan.) snapped
Piper (Kansas City, Kan.)'s 6-game winning streak, with a 21-7 victory on Saturday.
The Cardinals were up 14-7 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gabe Cleveland in the second quarter.
Eudora expanded its lead to 14 points entering the fourth quarter. EHS's lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown run by
Andrew Ballock.
With the win the Cardinals extended their winning streak to eight games. Eudora defeated the Wildcats 19-0 last week.
Cleveland played well for EHS in the victory. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
Sean Eskina made a difference for the Pirates. He caught one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to five on the year.
Piper's lone touchdown came on a 39-yard pass from
Tanner Eikenbary to Eskina in the second quarter.
The Cardinals went into the matchup giving up only 7.2 points per game. The seven points that PHS ended with were well below its average of 31.9 coming into the game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Piper, which notched a 24-22 victory over Chanute in its previous outing.
