Maine East is 0-4 against the Trevians since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Maine East Blue Demons will head out on the road to take on the New Trier Trevians at 6:30 p.m. Maine East will be strutting in after a win while the Trevians will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Maine East has not done well against the Cougars recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Maine East snuck past the Cougars with a 48-43 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Maine East.
Maine East found their leader in underclassman Arabella Silva, who scored 31 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Silva has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Maria Gonzalez, who scored four points.
Meanwhile, New Trier's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Schaumburg.
The victory got Maine East back to even at 13-13. As for New Trier, their loss dropped their record down to 15-14.
Maine East came up short against the Trevians in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 51-42. Can Maine East avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
