The Southern Alamance Patriots were the 47-44 winner over the Orange Panthers when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Southern Alamance fell just short of Orange by a score of 34-31. Southern Alamance's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the loss, Southern Alamance still got an impressive performance from Morgan Isley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Brouillard, who scored seven points.
Orange was led to victory by Maura McMurtry and Evelyn George. McMurtry scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals, while George scored 14 points along with six steals and five rebounds. The matchup was George's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
Southern Alamance's loss was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Orange, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.
Southern Alamance won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southeast Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Southeast Alamance presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Southern Alamance in North Carolina (Southeast Alamance is ranked 60th, while Southern Alamance is ranked 341st). Orange will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northwest Guilford at 2:00 p.m. on December 28th.
