Durham Academy is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will welcome the Cary Academy Chargers at 4:30 p.m. Cary Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Durham Academy, who comes in off a win.

Durham Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past East Chapel Hill 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cavaliers have posted since April 16, 2024.

Benjamin Kuo and Amare Burrus did most of the damage at the plate: Kuo scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Burrus scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave Burrus a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Collin Hernandez, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Durham Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Cary Academy came up short against Franklin Academy on Friday and fell 5-1.

Cary Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Declan Jack, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Durham Academy's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Cary Academy, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-5.
