Basketball Recap: Carvers Bay Takes a Loss

On Monday, the Carvers Bay Bears were beaten by the Lake Norman Christian Lions 78-49. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Carvers Bay lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kenard Heyward, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and five steals. That's the most steals Heyward has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Bromell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, Carvers Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

DJ Todd was his usual excellent self, going 8 of 16 on his way to 18 points and six rebounds for Lake Norman Christian. The team also got some help courtesy of Kobe Broome, who put up seven points in addition to seven assists and five boards.

Carvers Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Lake Norman Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

Carvers Bay wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 79-39 win against East Clarendon on the 2nd. As for Lake Norman Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 100-87 loss against Cannon on the 3rd.
