District 10 Region 6 AAA recap Oct. 30, 2012
Cathedral Prep extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 6 AAA this week by beating East, 70-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
The Warriors made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,044 from 8,440. The improvement came about via a 70-0 victory over East last week.
Strong Vincent's dynamic duo of Jared Carlson and Donnie Tatum proved tough for McDowell to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Carlson threw for 71 yards and Tatum had 38 yards receiving. Kyle Mathis helped Strong Vincent's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
Marcus Erdman was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 172 yards as General McLane fell to the Trojans. Teammate Michael Suminski added to the ground attack by rushing for 95 yards.
Cathedral Prep's Damion Terry and Brendan Klemensic have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Terry has thrown for 2135 yards this season, while Klemensic, a 5-foot-9 receiver, has 28 catches for 626 yards. McDowell's James Conner leads the league in rushing yards with 1002.
The top two teams in District 10 Region 6 AAA will face off this week when first place Cathedral Prep takes on second place General McLane. Michael Mischler's team topped Leonard Ford's team last week, while the Lancers bested Central Tech.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when General McLane takes on the Ramblers. Jim Wells' team has allowed 190 points this season, while Cathedral Prep has given up 96. The Lancers allowed 28 points last week as they beat the Falcons.
There should be lots of points scored when General McLane and the Ramblers face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Lancers comes in having scored 316 this season, while Cathedral Prep has scored 393. General McLane scored 41 points last week as it defeated Central Tech.
