Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact the Peyton Panthers proved on Friday. They secured a 54-50 W over Fowler. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Peyton also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peyton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Michael Perry, who scored 22 points along with six assists. Perry has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Gatti, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Fowler still got an impressive performance from Gage Gottbehuet, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. Gottbehuet is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Harrison Proctor was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with nine rebounds.
Peyton's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Fowler, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peyton will take on Swallows Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Swallows Charter Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Peyton is ranked 100th). As for Fowler, Fowler and Crowley County will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crowley County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
