Centennial has gone 9-1 against Wilber-Clatonia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Centennial Broncos will welcome the Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines at 7:00 p.m.
Last Saturday, Centennial came up short against Malcolm and fell 55-42. The Broncos haven't had much luck with the Clippers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Devin Slawnyk, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 14 boards. Another player making a difference was Camden Winkelman, who posted 12 points.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Wilber-Clatonia's strategy against David City on Friday. Wilber-Clatonia enjoyed a cozy 56-37 win over David City. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Scouts recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Centennial better focus on containing Aiden Zajicek and Jameson Conway as the pair were huge in Wilber-Clatonia's win. Zajicek went 6-for-9 to rack up 18 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds, while Conway went 7-for-11 on his way to 21 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Zajicek a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Palmer, who put up seven points and nine rebounds.
Wilber-Clatonia was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Wilber-Clatonia now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Centennial has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Wilber-Clatonia struggles in that department as they've been averaging 21.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Centennial skirted past Wilber-Clatonia 48-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Centennial repeat their success, or does Wilber-Clatonia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
