Baseball Recap: Medford Finds Home Field Redemption Against Somerville

There's no place like home for Medford, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Somerville Highlanders with a sharp 8-1 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Medford let John Wright and Micheal Piccolo run wild. Wright went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run, while Piccolo went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Wright has posted since back in April. Jayden Burns also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Medford pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Somerville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Medford will welcome Stoneham at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Somerville, they will be playing at home against Everett at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
