The Legacy Lightning's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 52-40 to Monarch. Legacy has not had much luck with Monarch recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Legacy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Olivia Mortensen. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 42.5% of Legacy's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meghan Allshouse, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Monarch found their leader in underclassman Sienna Williams, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of Monarch's points. Savannah Weiss was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Legacy bumped their record down to 1-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Monarch, their win bumped their record up to 3-6.
Legacy will head out on the road to face off against Loveland at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Loveland is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.3 points per game. As for Monarch, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. Poudre will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
