The West Washington Senators will square off against the Paoli Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in West Washington's favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while Paoli has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
On Wednesday, West Washington made easy work of Providence and carried off a 14-2 win. The Senators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Alaina Schmidt made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Layla Manship was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Meredith Deaton, who went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
West Washington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Providence only posted a batting average of .200.
Meanwhile, Paoli won against Evansville Harrison on Saturday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Rams blew past Austin 14-4. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Kalyn Hannon, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Haylie Gilliatt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
West Washington's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Paoli, their victory bumped their record up to 5-11.
Paoli's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .349. It's a different story for Paoli, though, as they've only averaged .234. Will they be able to contain West Washington's hitters?
